Logitech Harmony 700 Rechargeable Advanced Remote with Color Screen

Price: $124.73

( customer reviews)

4 used & new available from $124.73

If your looking for a inexpensive “modern” universal remote control, the Harmony 700 is a good start. It supports over 200,000 devices and is easy to setup using your computer (No More Annoying Device Codes!!!). The screen supports 4 custom buttons so you can easily get to your favorite devices without hassle. The remote comes with a rechargeable battery which will last about a week but if your like me and forget to charge it you’ll have to wait, unless you have a spare set of AA and a NiMH AA charger, also it doesn’t come with a cradle so it won’t look super spiffy while it charges (we’ll deal). All-in-all the battery is not bad and not having to buy them is always a plus.

The remote is a little heavy but it is mainly the batteries and the bottom of the remote, despite this it has a good feel to it. The buttons sadly feel kinda cheap and remind me of the remote that comes with my tv but they are not bad. Again if your looking to get your feet wet in the world of “smart” remotes the Harmony 700 is a great start and is more affordable at $82.00. It will greatly simplify your life… well as far as Audio/Video goes.

As with almost any of Logitech universal TV remote the Harmony 900 works with several hundred thousand electronic devices.  Programming this guy is a breeze; just hook it up to your computer and a simple software program walks you through the entire programming process using their database of electronic device codes so that you don’t have to page through manuals and tear your hair out.

It works with both Windows and Mac OS X computers according to the manufacturer but beware of the many glitches to be found in the Mac version of the software.  If you’re a Mac user consider one of Logitech’s more Mac-compatible products or better yet go with another brand.

Another great feature of the Logitech Harmony 900 universal TV remote is that it uses radio frequency instead of infared so there’s no more issues with having to have a direct line of sight to your electronics which you’re controlling.
